my approach to therapy is person-centred...
At the foundation of my approach to therapy is a core training in the Person-Centred Approach. This means that I aim to be: · understanding and accepting, not judgemental · interested and engaged in your experience, not analytical · honest and human, not a cold professional ‘front’
... and humanistic
In addition to these core Person-Centred attitudes, I hold the following broader Humanistic beliefs which influence my way of working: · the past will influence how a person perceives and relates to themselves, others and the world · whilst an understanding of past influences is important and can be very healing, it does not in itself transform the present · therapy provides an opportunity for the client to understand and transform their present
